The Delaunay Counter

The Delaunay Counter on Aldwych, is a fantastic café that draws its inspiration from the grand cafés of Central Europe. As you walk through the door, you immediately feel like you’ve left London.

The distinct layout and design of the café give it a continental feel mirrored in the food on offer. They serve everything from Viennoiserie to Frankfurters and beef pretzels. They also have an excellent selection of cakes and sweet options. I opted for a cheesecake, which was simply mouth watering.

Coffee wise, they serve their own blend of Square Mile, which was a delight to taste. The quality of coffee can be a bit hit and miss though – I had a macchiato here the other day, which wasn’t so great.

That said, this is an excellent place to visit.

NB. The food’s a bit pricey but it’s very high quality.
