THE COUNTER CAFE, LONDON’S BEST KEPT SECRET?
The Counter Cafe truly is a hidden gem. Located on the edge of an industrial estate backing out onto a view of the Olympic Stadium, The Counter Cafe is hard to find but is well worth the effort.
It’s part of Stour Space, an art gallery that holds monthly exhibitions and markets. If you’re lucky, you’ll get a glimpse of the art work on the walls and in the gallery space. I recently visited the Christmas market there but sadly forgot my camera. The place was teeming with creativity with some fantastic things on display.
The cafe offers unbeatable views of the River Lea and Olympic Stadium. The coffee and food thankfully match the view in terms of quality. I opted for a vegetarian breakfast and although I was a bit sceptical about deviating away from the classic full English Breakfast, I was pleasantly surprised. The dish was excellent.
The Counter Cafe serves excellent Square Mile coffee. The macchiato I had topped off a very enjoyable lazy Sunday brunch. This place ticks all the boxes. If you’re ever in the area, make sure you stop by.
