Allpress Espresso roastery is situated on Redchurch Street, only 60 seconds walk from Shoreditch High Street Station. Founded in New Zealand, they have been roasting high quality coffee for their kiwi coffee fans for a number of years. As you can imagine, when the founders decided to set up a roastery-come-cafe in London, it got some local coffee lovers very excited.
Since its opening in 2010, Allpress Espresso has lived up to expectation, roasting and serving coffee of the highest grade. The best thing about this shop is that if you happen to come at the right time, you can actually see the coffee being roasted on the right side of the store.
The coffee is roasted on site only a few metres away (depending on where you choose to sit in the shop) and if you’re looking to buy some coffee beans, ask away. The staff are super friendly and are more than happy to advise you on what blend to go for.
I was advised to go for an Ethiopian Yirgacheffe blend brewed with a Chemex. It was delightful. However, as ‘Espresso coffee is their thing’ (Allpress Espresso Winter Newsletter 2012) if you’re in two minds about what to get, go for it. It’s worth trying.
PS. For Allpress roasted coffee in a different location, try the fantastic White Mulberries.
