46B ESPRESSO HUT
46b Espresso Hut is run by the delightful duo Eva and Dom, who sell ‘lots of yum stuff.’
I went for a double shot of their Red Brick (Square Mile) espresso blend, which had a strong hint of raspberry. The smell was so enticing that I forgot to take a picture before I tasted it! With a winning combination of Square Mile and quality baristas, 46b Espresso Hut manage to serve up a fantastic cup of coffee.
A few months back, I mentioned that I am very keen on coffee shops serving you water with your coffee (some do, but not enough) and I was very happy that here I was served a glass (jam jar to be precise) with my espresso.
I spoke to Eva, who has been in the coffee industry for quite some time now, and it was interesting to hear about her vision for the shop. The attention to detail extends beyond the coffee to quality and proximity. The bread comes from E5 Bakehouse, the salad is grown in Hackney by Growing Communities and the baked goods come from independent bakers.
The shop is small and rectangular in shape and full of fanciful objects. It was a very sunny afternoon when I visited but even if it had been raining, there would still have been a lot of colour in the shop. I particularly liked the array of different plants around the place, something we don’t see very much living in the City.
